Introducing sbc.cheap – Fast Way to Find Affordable Single Board Computers

Announcing sbc.cheap – New Price Filtering Tool

If you’ve ever tried shopping for a single board computer (SBC) on Amazon, you already know the problem: the search is powerful, but it’s not built for this niche.

You type in what you want, apply a few filters, and still end up scrolling through pages of accessories, unrelated electronics, duplicate listings, and overpriced bundles. Finding the actual cheapest SBCs quickly?

Surprisingly difficult. That’s exactly why I built sbc.cheap.

What sbc.cheap Does

sbc.cheap is a simple tool with a simple goal:

Show you the cheapest single board computers available without the noise.

Behind the scenes, it:

  • Scrapes Amazon automatically every 30 minutes
  • Filters out irrelevant listings
  • Surfaces only actual SBCs
  • Sorts everything by price so you can instantly see the cheapest options

The final result is just a clean list of boards from lowest to highest price.

Filter Options

sbc.cheap Filtering Options

sbc.cheap isn’t just about showing the lowest prices. It also helps you narrow down exactly what you’re looking for.

You can currently filter results by:

  • CPU Architecture – Quickly switch between ARM-based boards and other architectures depending on your project needs
  • RAM Size – Set minimum and maximum RAM to find boards that meet your performance requirements

These filters make it much easier to cut through the list and zero in on boards that actually fit your use case, instead of manually scanning through dozens (or hundreds) of entries.

More filtering options may be added in the future based on feedback, so if there’s something you’d like to see here, definitely speak up!

Not Perfect (But Pretty Close)

Amazon listings are… messy.

Manufacturers and sellers don’t always label products clearly, which means:

  • Some accessories may occasionally slip through
  • Some legitimate boards might get missed
  • Some boards may be difficult / impossible to detect RAM or CPU on depending on how they worded the listing

I’ve done a lot of work to filter things properly, but there’s only so much automation can do when the source data is inconsistent.

If you notice issues (too many accessories, missing boards, or anything else) please let me know:

Your feedback will help improve the filters over time!

The Reality of the Amazon API

Amazon Creators API
Amazon Creators API

This project uses the Amazon Creators API and it’s far more limited than you might expect.

A few constraints I had to work around:

  • Searches return only 10 items at a time
  • Each search caps at 100 total results
  • Review scores aren’t even accessible via the API
  • You must maintain 10 qualified sales per month just to keep access

In short: building this was much harder than it should have been.

That said, the end result turned out very close to what I originally envisioned (just with a little less metadata like reviews, etc.).

What’s Next

Now that the system is built, I’m planning to expand it.

Next up:

  • A version of sbc.cheap for Mini PCs

The same filtering approach should work well there too. It will cut through the clutter and showing true price comparisons on actual systems instead of drowning in accessories and irrelevant listings.

I’m also considering:

  • International support (starting with the UK, France, and other regions where I have affiliate access)

Feedback Welcome

This tool is just getting started, and there’s plenty of room to improve.

If you have ideas for features, filtering improvements, or anything else you’d like to see added, I’m all ears. I’m especially interested in:

  • Better sorting/filtering options
  • Additional product categories
  • Region-specific support

Thanks for checking out sbc.cheap. If you’ve ever been frustrated trying to find a good deal on an SBC, this should make things a whole lot easier.
